AC Milan Legend Paolo Maldini: Real Madrid Defender Sergio Ramos Is My Heir

|

Maldini believes Real Madrid's Ramos is best suited to become his heir...

AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini believes Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos can continue his legacy by becoming the world's best defender.

Maldini, who retired at the end of last season following a sparkling career, believes Ramos can take his place as he gives the Spaniard a ringing endorsement.

"My heir will be Sergio Ramos," Maldini told Marca.

"He is young and has everything to become my heir. He is quick, powerful and has technique. He is young and has plenty of time ahead of him."

The Italian's salutary parlance will be welcome at the Bernabeu, and he has also given Ramos some beneficial advice.

"He is part of a great club in Real Madrid. My advice to him will be to play in the middle of defence like I did. The secret is to train hard," concluded Maldini.

Milan Legend Paolo Maldini: I Could Return To Help The Team

|

The iconic defender has offered the hand of support for his side, but in a director's role...

Milan legend Paolo Maldini admits he has considered returning to the club to help them out this term, but it will not be on the pitch.

The Italian retired from the game at the end of last term following a distinguished career at the San Siro. Reports claimed Maldini would take on a director's role, and he has now made himself available to the cause.

"I gave plenty and received a lot and I feel so much love for the Milan colours. It goes beyond the people who work there," Maldini told La 7 Gold.

"If there is the chance to do something positive that will help this team then I will always be there. My life has always been without other roles on the side, and I want to continue like that.

"The team have great pride and they are capable of always giving a moment of important emotions."

The Rossoneri have grasped the nettle of reform following a poor start to the season, and Maldini hopes the good run continues. But, his Champions League prediction sees Chelsea and Barcelona at the forefront of the chasing pack.

"We are going through a good period because the team has found consistency in the Champions League and in Serie A. They know how to play football," added the former Italian international.

"The Champions League? I think Barcelona are the strongest team, but my friend [Carlo] Ancelotti's Chelsea are well equipped."

Paolo Maldini: Milan Have What It Takes To Defeat Real Madrid

|

Former Milan captain Paolo Maldini paid a visit to Real Madrid on Monday ahead of their Champions League fixture at the San Siro on Tuesday evening, but opined that the Rossoneri can win the crunch game.

The 41-year-old received a warm welcome from the Merengues. He exchanged a few words with ex-Diavoli star Kaka before making his predictions for the big match.

“Real are a great team and have the necessary experience to give a good account of themselves,” Maldini is quoted as saying in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“They have Kaka, who is extraordinary. Although he struggled in the first game, he can put in a great performance.

“But Milan have what it takes to win. They have home advantage and a passionate crowd to cheer them on.

“Ronaldinho is improving and you can see he is giving his all.”

Milan conquered the Bernabeu for the first time in their history a fortnight ago. An Alexandre Pato brace and a strike from Andrea Pirlo gave the Italian giants a 3-2 victory.
