No Champions League = Arrivederci Maldini?

AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini has seemingly suggested that whether or not the club secure qualification for next year's Champions League holds the key to his retirement decision.

Having recently admitted that he is still undecided on whether to go through with his plan of calling time on his storybook career this summer, his latest statement could easily interpreted as an ultimatum of sorts, and will undoubtedly give his teammates extra motivation to finish amongst the top four.

"I have no intention of doing without the Champions League," the Rossoneri captain declared.

"I certainly wouldn't want to end my career without participating in the most prestigious and important tournament."

The 39-year-old then joked that he must still be in pretty decent physical condition considering that he is ably competing against players half his age day in and day out.

"I'm keeping up with Pato and Paloschi in training, who from their age could quite easily be my children," he smiled.

With just six games remaining in the Serie A seaon, Milan still trail fourth-placed Fiorentina by four points, while Sampdoria and Udinese are also lurking around in close proximity.
