Maldini: I'm Fine

AC Milan veteran Paolo Maldini has insisted he will be ready and firing for his side’s next pre-season engagement after sitting out the TIM Trophy…

The Rossoneri downed both Internazionale and Juventus on penalties yesterday to claim their third summer title since the mini-tournament’s inception in 2001.

Maldini was one of several Milan regulars to miss the action at Turin’s Stadio Olimpico, with team-mates Filippo Inzaghi, Alessandro Nesta and Marco Borriello all carrying injuries.

The 39-year-old had initially planned to retire at the end of last season, and his absence has led to whispers that perhaps some niggling injury or other might derail his attempts to play on for one more season.

However, it would appear his exclusion was merely a conservational measure, as the former Azzurri star claimed that he is fit and will play in Il Diavolo’s next hit-out.

Maldini said: "I'm fine, in the next commitment I will be there."
