Maldini: Milan Winning Without Important Players

Paolo Maldini is enjoying Milan's great run of form and has reminded people that the positive results have come without some very important players.

Milan started the season off in terrible fashion, losing their first two Serie A games before turning it all around in the UEFA Cup with a win against Zurich. Since then, the Rossoneri are unbeaten in all competitions, and have already accounted for cross-town rivals Inter in a 1-0 defeat.

The captain is understandably enjoying the good run of results. Commenting on their most recent win, a 3-0 victory over Sampdoria, he said: “We obtained a nice victory, which was important for the standings and everything.

“We have to get used to doing well also without certain players. Pirlo, for example, is almost irreplaceable for Milan - a great player. We still managed to get these positive results without him.”

Milan have had numerous injury problems this season, but the depth of the squad has allowed the performances and results to remain consistent.

“We have worked hard and now the team are winning despite important absentees, like Nesta, Kaladze, Senderos and, of course, Pirlo,” concluded the legendary defender.
