Fabio Capello: Maldini, Raul And Del Piero Are Symbols Of Football

The former Juve, Milan and Real Madrid coach has heaped high praise on three of his ex-stars...

England coach Fabio Capello has hailed three of the world’s greatest players in Raul, Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Del Piero by describing them as “symbols of the game.”
The three players all share certain characteristics in common; they have only played for their respective clubs for the duration of their professional careers and each has become a legend in his own right, winning a number of major honours in the process.

Del Piero (Juventus) and Raul (Real Madrid) are both all time scorers for their clubs while Maldini (Milan) is regarded as one of the greatest ever defenders in world football.

"Maldini, Del Piero and Raul are all the symbols of world football," Capello told Marca.

"Look at Raul; he has scored 307 goals in the Real Madrid shirt."

Florentino Perez could be elected as the president of Los Merengues in the summer and the England coach believes that he is the right man to lead the Spanish club back to the pinnacle of the game.

"I think Florentino Perez is the ideal president,” Capello stated. “He is the only one capable of taking the club back to the top of football."
