AC Milan Defender Senderos: It's Been An Honour To Play With Paolo Maldini

The defender has hailed the legendary captain as he prepares for his final home match this weekend...

Milan defender Philippe Senderos has revealed his pleasure at playing alongside club legend Paolo Maldini, describing the experience as an "honour".

Maldini is set to retire at the end of the season and he is currently preparing to play his last match at the San Siro this Sunday against Roma. Senderos has spoken of the influence his captain has had upon his time with Milan, claiming he has learned plenty from the No. 3.

"It has been an honour playing with Maldini as he is part of the club's history," Senderos told Sky Sport Italia.

"He has been the symbol of this club for many years and it will be hard to play without him in future as he is an influence in the dressing room and outside it.

"He pushes you forward and he is a great player as he still has the will to do his best at his age. Sometimes I arrive in the mornings for training a little tired, but he is there to inspire me.

"I can never been negative with him around as he is an example to me to carry on going forwards."

Milan can secure second place with a win against the Giallorossi and if Juventus fail to beat Siena.
