Maldini EXCLUSIVE: It Has Been A Career Of Great Emotions

Goal.com caught up with Cesare Maldini who shared his thoughts regarding his son's career and retirement plans...

Paolo Maldini's father, and former Italy coach Cesare Maldini has exclusively told Goal.com about a career of emotions he has enjoyed as his son's storied tenure with AC Milan draws to a close.

The Rossoneri No. 3 will play his last ever match at the San Siro, before hanging up his boots next week against Fiorentina. The clash against Roma this Sunday will be Maldini's 901st game during a 24-year career which saw him win five Champions League trophies with his club.

Goal.com caught up with Maldini senior to gain some exclusive insight into the legend's career.

"Paolo has given me many emotions during his career. He has made us dream and have fun every time and Sunday will be another emotional occasion for me," Cesare Maldini told Goal.com

"I couldn't have asked for more. Paolo has always been correct and respectful with everyone, and this is the secret that allows him to be respected by all.

"I have had the chance to coach him and he always behaved as a player rather than 'the coaches son'."

Maldini's No. 3 shirt will be retired by the club, but it could be reinstated if the player's son follows in his father's footsteps.
