Maldini settles for a point

Paolo Maldini insists that Milan have nothing to be ashamed of after last night's stalemate in Cagliari.

The Rossoneri were held by Serie A's bottom side as the Brazilian trident of Ronaldinho, Kaka and Alexandre Pato failed to ignite.

But Maldini is still upbeat after a recent improvement in the Diavolo's fortunes, which saw them record five consecutive wins, and he believes a draw at the Stadio Sant'Elia is respectable.

“You can't always play well,” the veteran defender reasoned.

“We remain a very well organised team and we are showing some consistency.

“I think that after such a good run of results we are allowed to come home from Cagliari with just one point.

“Certainly it is a problem not having a centre forward but now we are playing with a rectangle in attack and we have made that our system.”
