Poll Results: Readers Want Maldini's Azzurri Farewell

The readers have spoken, and a massive majority want to see Paolo Maldini given a good send-off by Italy against Brazil on February 10...

In conjunction with our Goal.com Campaign on Paolo Maldini, yesterday we ran a poll on whether or not Paolo Maldini, who is set to retire at the end of the season after a glittering 25-year career, should be given a send-off for Italy.

Unsurprisingly, the results ran as follows:

Yes: 92%
No: 8%

In other words, more than nine out of every ten agrees that Maldini should play for Italy against Brazil at the Emirates Stadium in London on February 10.

We also took this issue to our Italy forums to ask the readers to add their thoughts.

User 'stugots' said:

"Yes, Maldini should definitely get called up by Lippi for one last game so he can go out in style just like Baggio. He would get a huge applause from the crowd and it would be a kodak moment."

'sakhratul' added:

"yeahhh.. maldini should be given the chance by lippi.. he surely deserve a nice farewell game for the azzuri rather than the game against south korea in WC02.."

Be sure to check back each weekday for a new Goal.com Poll!
