Maldini is adamant that his country are worthy hosts...
UEFA will chose the host country for the 2016 European Championships tomorrow and former AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini is hopeful that Italy will be given the nod.
The Italians are among the contenders, along with France and Turkey to be the backdrop for the main event six years from now.
"I was proud to be part of Italy's testimonial," he explained, according to sport.it.
"I know it's a difficult undertaking, but our dossier is full of strengths. I don't know what could be better for football in Italy - there is no doubt we deserve it [to be hosts]."
Italy last hosted a major football tournament 20 years ago, the 1990 World Cup.
